Aamir Khan training hard for Dhoom:3

Perfectionist Khan is training hard for Dhoom:3, his first film with Katrina Kaif. Excited about doing a film with the actor and also with Yash Raj Films, Aamir Khan is devoting all his time to the film, although he is also busy with Reema Kagti’s thriller titled Talaash. First Aamir learnt ballet dancing for D:3, and now he is taking keen interest in learning parkour, which can be described as a French technique, art or sport which requires the body to be very agile.

Wikipedia describes parkour as “a method of movement focussed on moving around obstacles with speed and efficiency…the main purpose of the discipline is to teach participants how to move through their environment by vaulting, rolling, running, climbing and jumping. Traceurs (parkour practitioners) train to be able to identify and utilise alternate or the more efficient paths. Parkour can be practiced anywhere, but areas dense with obstacles offer many different training opportunities”. We wonder how Aamir is going to pull this off at 46 years of age, but taking it up itself requires guts. And if Akshay Kumar, Shahid Kapoor and many other actors can do it, so can Aamir!

The Hunt is Over! Katrina Kaif to play female lead role in DHOOM:3

After an extensive hunt for a new face for the leading lady for DHOOM:3, which included international aspirants as well, Yash Raj Films is now pleased to announce and confirm that Katrina Kaif will play this role.

The Director, Vijay Krishna Acharya (Victor), along with Aditya Chopra, has made this choice after considerable deliberations. When asked on the selection process, Victor said: “After almost a year of searching for a new face for DHOOM:3, we were still unable to find the perfect debutant to play the lead role. We even reached out to international talent but were still unable to find someone who stood out. Both Adi and I really wanted to be sure that the person we chose would be perfect for the role. Once we decided to go with a known face and not pursue the new-comer route, Katrina was the obvious choice for all of us. She is someone who we all know will bring tremendous enthusiasm and commitment to the film. The first time pairing of Aamir with Katrina will also certainly add value.”

Produced by Aditya Chopra, DHOOM:3 is written and directed by Victor, who had also written DHOOM & DHOOM:2.

Apart from Aamir Khan, who plays the anti-hero in the film, both Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra will continue in their now iconic roles of Jai Dixit and Ali.

The film will begin shooting end of this year and is slated for a 2012 Christmas release.

It’s final at last: Katrina Kaif is the new Dhoom girl!

After months of speculation, it’s now settled, we hear. Katrina Kaif is the new Dhoom girl. It seems that the success of Mere Brother Ki Dulhan has prompted the Chopras to cast Kat in Dhoom:3. Initially Yash Raj Films wanted to cast a fresh face in the new sequel, and even some international aspirants were auditioned; but now we have an official statement from the production house announcing that Katrina Kaif will play the all-important role. Director Vijay Krishna Acharya (Victor) along with Aditya Chopra has made this choice after considerable deliberation. When asked about on the selection process, Victor said: “After almost a year of searching for a new face for Dhoom:3, we were still unable to find the perfect debutant to play the lead role.

We even reached out to international talent but were still unable to find someone who stood out. Both Adi and I really wanted to be sure that the person we chose would be perfect for the role. Apart from Aamir Khan, who plays the anti-hero in the film, both Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra will continue in their now iconic characters of Jai Dixit and Ali. We are looking forward to watching the glam doll get her hands dirty doing some gravity-defying stunts with Bollywood’s very own Mr Perfectionist. But we do have a small question: While Kat will get huge publicity with this new film, does she know that characters played by Esha Deol, Aishwarya Rai, Bipasha Basu and even the wife of the hero, Rimii Sen, vanished without leaving any trace? Now that is something to think about, no?

Will Aamir do ‘Dhoom 3′? And with which co-star?

A little birdie just rushed in with some interesting news – apparently Aamir Khan’s schedule is full and the star is concentrating on his new project. No, it’s not Dhoom:3, where he plays a baddie gymnast, but the new game show that he plans to host, which features short films and documentaries as part of its theme.

Aamir has roped in Ram Sampath, the music man from Delhi Belly, to come up with a new score for some segments of the show, while he himself will – in typical Aamir style – be hands-on for the edits and final cuts. And since it is a first for the Khan, expect an OCD level of involvement! The TV show shoot begins in September and 20 episodes will be canned for a launch in January next year. And around that time will be the release of Reema Kagti’s film with Aamir, Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukherjee and you all know what our AK is like with promotional activities!

As a result, Dhoom:3 may be pushed back, what with papa-to-be-Abhishek Bachchan already delaying schedules a bit, but we wait to find out more from our chirp-buddy. Meanwhile, you may already know that the makers ofDhoom:3 have realised that a firang face does wonders for the success of a film – remember the Aamir starrers Rang De Basanti and Lagaan? – for now they are trying to rope in a Hollywood leading lady to play Aamir’s love interest in the third installment of the franchise. Or so we hear. Yes, Katrina Kaif is reportedly out of the film. We hear that there were some really hot scenes and a bikini shot that made Kat very uncomfortable, so she opted out. And the brains behind D:3 are now looking westward. With shooting slated to begin in January 2012, they have to move fast. We hear they are considering Penelope Cruz, Natalie Portman and Eva Longoria. That’s a tough one.
